  • Sabrina Maas

    Captain

    Sabrina is a junior from San Diego, California. She started sailing on her high school’s team and now competes with our dinghy team as a crew. She is looking forward to developing further as a sailor while working to foster an environment where sailors of all skill levels have the opportunity to improve and find community.

  • Grace Redner

    Captain

    Grace is a junior from West Bloomfield, Michigan. She grew up sailing single-handed in a Force 5 but has enjoyed competing in double-handed boats at Michigan. Grace looks forward to developing her skills as a crew, as well as furthering the team’s competitive presence on the national level.

  • Alex Reynolds

    Sailing Development and Race Chair

    Alex is a sophomore from Traverse City, MI. He learned how to sail 420s and lasers on his high school team, and over the summers, has sailed Melges 15s and Melges 24s. Alex is primarily a crew for the dinghy team, and is looking forward to making the team a fun, educational, and engaging place for all members.

  • Megan Gottfried

    Treasurer

    Megan is a junior from Ann Arbor, Michigan. She began sailing out of the Michigan Sailing Club for fun during high school. She loves crewing on the dinghy team and is excited to continue growing and work with the rest of Board this year!

  • Jillian Giordano

    Fundraising Chair

    Jillian is a junior from Darien, CT. She grew up sailing Optis and c420s at Coral Reef Yacht Club in Miami, Florida. She later moved to Connecticut, where she sailed i420’s with LISOT and on her high school team. For the past few summers, she has taught sailors as an Instructor at Longshore Sailing School. Jillian loves competing in both women's and open events and is excited to continue growing as a sailor and a member of the team!

  • Wynne Byard

    Rec Sports and Travel Chair

    Wynne is a sophomore from Princeton, NJ. She grew up sailing Lasers and 420s recreationally, but her first exposure to competitive sailing was with the Michigan Sailing Team. Wynne has spent the last 3 years teaching sailing at a summer camp for girls, serving as the Head of Sailing Instruction in 2025. She is excited to continue developing as a sailor and work with the new Board this year!

  • Lila Torresen

    Communications Chair

    Lila is a freshman from Muskegon, MI. She grew up sailing butterflies and started racing 420’s on her high school team. During the summers, Lila has taught sailing Muskegon and Spring Lake Yacht Club for the last four years. She has enjoyed being a member of the dinghy team and is excited to continue to grow as a skipper!

  • River Servia

    Keelboat Chair

    River is a junior from Alpena, Michigan. He grew up sailing at his local sailing school on Optis and Ynglings where he is now the current Director. In the summers when River is not teaching, he competes in a variety of keelboat regattas around the Great Lakes including many Bayview to Mackinac races over the years. River mostly sails for our keelboat team while expanding into the world of collegiate dinghy sailing. His favorite activities are Swan 42 turbos, broaching, and beating Andy.

  • Ted Sherman

    Initiative Chair

    Ted is a junior from Los Angeles, California. He learned how to sail Optis and 420s in Christmas Cove, Maine, where he spends his summers. His competitive background includes racing C420s and i420s for the California Yacht Club and representing Team USA internationally. His sailing career has taken him across the globe to venues in Spain, Japan, and Singapore in boats such as the SB20, Snipe, and 470. Ted sails for the dinghy team at Michigan and has enjoyed competing in regattas from coast to coast during his time on the team.
